Aurubis successfully produces first copper anodes using hydrogen

Aurubis, a provider of non-ferrous metals, has started producing its first industrial scale copper anodes using hydrogen supplied by Air Liquide.

The pilot project, based at the company’s Hamburg plant, introduced hydrogen and nitrogen into the anode furnace instead of natural gas with positive results.

The currents tests will gauge the impact that using hydrogen has and will monitor it to ensure that the continued process runs smoothly.
