The Australian and Western Australia (WA) governments are investing a combined AUD $140m ($91.5m) to develop a hydrogen hub in the Pilbara region.
Anticipated to become a centre for hydrogen production and export, both the Commonwealth and State hope the Pilbara Hydrogen Hub could eventually become an “international gateway” for Australian-made green steel and iron.
With each government investing AUD $70m ($45.8m) under the finalised deal, construction will kick off this year, with the hub expected to become operational in mid-2028.
