ATOME Energy has announced it plans to double the capacity of its flagship green hydrogen and ammonia production project in Villeta, Paraguay from 60MW to 120MW, enabling the facility to produce up to 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year.
With plans of commencing large-scale green hydrogen production at the right by 2025, the expansion is for the first phase of the project which is expected to eventually make up part of 400MW of green hydrogen and ammonia production capacity in the South American country.
In May (2022), ATOME announced it had signed a 60MW power purchase agreement (PPA) with Paraguayan national power firm, ANDE, which has now been doubled to 120MW of 100% renewable power for the project.
