Argentina can meet its own domestic power needs and potentially “power the world” if it creates the right infrastructure for electricity and green hydrogen, according to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
She made the comments during an EU-Argentina Business Forum in Buenos Aires, where her principal focus is to push the EU-Mercosur agreement “across the finish line”.
“I am committed to conclude this Mercosur agreement as soon as possible. And I think, let us get it done before the end of the year. That should be our common goal,” she said.
But turning to Argentina’s vast renewables potential, and particularly wind energy, she made the comments regarding electricity and hydrogen and said Europe “stands ready to invest”.
