German steelmaker Salzgitter has ordered a 100MW green hydrogen plant from ANDRITZ GROUP to clean up its steel production.
The plant, built by ANDRITZ integrating 100MW of HydrogenPro’s high-pressure alkaline electrolysers, will be installed at the Salzgitter Flachstahl site to produce around 9,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.
Set to kick off production from 2026, the hydrogen will be used to produce green steel as part of Salzgitter’s SALCOS® (Salzgitter Low CO2 Steelmaking) programme.
