German Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer said he believes hydrogen can be the fuel of the future in his keynote speech this morning at day three of European Hydrogen Week.
Scheuer encouraged PriortHy event attendees to focus not only on national efforts, but to widen perspectives and find a “global solution so that hydrogen, for example, becomes the wonder drivetrain technology for the future”.
“Battery electric vehicles are restricted in terms of power and range. Hydrogen, on the other hand, is suitable for long distances for large cars and heavy goods vehicles, for buses and coaches, trains, ships and aircrafts. And that’s why we must recognise the advantages of hydrogen,” Scheuer said.
Scheuer said whilst hydrogen still faces challenges, like transporting it, hydrogen needs to made ready for market and, above all, interesting as a business model.
