Ammonia-powered fuel cell generator powers Vodafone telecom tower site in Romania

An ammonia-powered fuel cell generator has been tested at a Vodafone mobile telecom tower site in Romania, offering a clean, off-grid hydrogen-based power solution.

In a collaboration with Romania rooftop photovoltaic (PV) plant solutions provider, Simtel Team, Israeli-based GenCell Energy’s GenCell FOX, low-temperature alkaline fuel cell was tested over a six-week period.

According to the firms, initial test results indicate that the off-grid system operated reliably, providing required power output throughout the entire test, operated autonomously. H2 View understands, upon full results, Vodafone will showcase the solution to its different business units.
