Ammonia can be the ‘workhorse of the hydrogen economy’, a gasworld webinar hears

A gasworld webinar was today (September 23) told that ammonia can be the workhorse of the hydrogen economy and has the potential to save the world, for the second time.

Focusing on the digitisation, decarbonisation, and decentralisation of supply chains, the webinar heard from Joel Moser, CEO of First Ammonia, who spoke about how ammonia saved humanity from the brink of starvation a century ago as a fertiliser, and how it could save it once again by playing a key role in decarbonisation.

Moser explained that the world’s fields were becoming baron of nitrogen because the primary source of chemical, guano were running dry. This led to the German scientists, Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch developing the well-established Haber-Bosch process to produce ammonia, a nitrogen carrier, at an industrial scale.
