American Airlines orders 100 hydrogen fuel cell engines from ZeroAvia

American Airlines has entered a conditional purchase agreement for 100 hydrogen-electric engines from ZeroAvia that could power its regional jet aircraft, as well as increasing its investment in the start-up.

The order and follow-up investment come just days after competitor firm Universal Hydrogen went bust having burned through cash reserves and not securing further funding.
