Algerian green hydrogen project to boost European imports via SouthH2 Corridor

Five energy-focused companies will explore the feasibility of an integrated green hydrogen project in Algeria designed to provide imports via the SouthH2 Corridor.

Algeria’s Sonatrach and Sonelgaz, Germany’s VNG, Italian company SNAM and Verbund Green Hydrogen from Austria all signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly conduct studies for the project.

H2 View understands that the initiative will produce green hydrogen in Algeria to supply the European market via the SouthH2 Corridor. The 3,300km pipeline could deliver 40% of Europe’s imported hydrogen demand in 2030.
