Air Liquide wants to take over and operate TotalEnergies’ 225 tonnes per day hydrogen plant in Normandy, France as the industrial gas giant takes steps to develop the world’s first low-carbon hydrogen network.
Announcing the news today (Sep 14), Air Liquide said it would decarbonise hydrogen production at the site by installing a CO2 carbon capture and storage solution.
The captured CO2 would be transported and stored by TotalEnergies through the Northern Lights and Aramis projects being developed in the North Sea.
Additionally, the Normandy plant will also be connected Air Liquide’s hydrogen network, which already includes a hydrogen facility in Port-Jérôme that was equipped with the French firm’s CryocapTM carbon capture solution in 2015.
