In celebration of National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day yesterday, Air Liquide announced plans to produce renewable liquid hydrogen to serve the western US mobility market.
The French industrial gas giant said the hydrogen would be produced in part from renewable natural gas upgraded from biogas using Air Liquide’s advanced separation membrane technology at a new plant to be built in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
Air Liquide said the project, which will produce 30 tonnes of liquid hydrogen per day, represents the first step in expanding hydrogen supply to the region, enabling the market in California to continue to grow to an expected 200 stations by 2025.
