Air Liquide and Siemens Energy’s joint venture (JV) electrolyser gigafactory could cope with the foreseeable demand this decade but funding delays are slowing the uptake of the technology.
That’s according to Siemens Energy’s Senior Vice-President for Sustainable Energy Systems, Alexey Ustinov, and Air Liquide Engineering & Construction Vice-President for Strategic Partnerships, Dominique Rouge, who told H2 View that flexibility had been a key focus of the joint manufacturing operation.
Opened in November 2023, the PEM electrolyser manufacturing operation in Berlin, Germany, is currently operating at one-third of its 3GW nameplate capacity – which is due to be hit next year.
