French hydrogen initiatives, Hype and Hydrogen in Aix-Marseille for an Ecological and Sustainable Mobility (HyAMMED), have been awarded by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME).
The two Air Liquide-led projects received awards under the second closing of “Hydrogen Mobility Ecosystems” call for proposals.
Selected by ADEME, Hype is the “world’s first” fleet of zero emission hydrogen powered taxis which were launched during the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, and now showcase approximately 100 vehicles.
‘2020 HYPE 600’ is aiming to reach the 600-taxi mark by the end of 2020, with 500 of those vehicles being supplied by Toyota. In order to support the fleet, HySetCo, which is formed of Air Liquide, Idex, Kouros, the Société du Taxi Électrique Parisiem and Toyota will invest in local hydrogen production facilities.
