A new zero emission, self-contained, electric vehicle charger based on hydrogen fuel cell technology has been launched today by AFC Energy, a UK-based industrial fuel cell power company.
Designed to meet electric vehicle needs, the new charger generates clean electricity through a hydrogen fuel cell, allowing for electric vehicle charge without increasing the demand on the grid.
The UK-based company teamed up with Rolec Services to bring the 72 kilowatts per hour charger to the market and plans to target multi-user sites such as car parks, shopping centres and other off grid applications.
“It can no longer be denied that electric vehicles have become part of today’s mainstream automotive experience, but they are many areas where infrastructure is constraining mass deployment,” said Adam Bond, AFC Energy CEO.
