Advent Technologies has revealed today (March 9) that it will participate in decarbonising the maritime transportation sector in Denmark with hydrogen to be a key factor in achieving this.
The low-carbon propulsion system will be utilised within a danish ferry service between the Danish islands of Læsø and Frederikshavn and hydrogen provides a basis to achieve this.
The partners will work together to identify ideal alternative fuels to replace the ferry’s current diesel powerplant and determine whether the Læsø ferry service will be able to operate effectively on a daily basis, using only green fuels. One of the proposals to be examined will be the combination of methanol driven engines and fuel cells.
