ACWA Power has partnered with Hysata to deploy its high-efficiency green hydrogen production technology in Saudi Arabia, aiming to scale up cost-effective hydrogen production.
H2 View understands that the Australian firm will provide the Saudi-state-backed company with its capillary-fed electrolysers (CFE).
Hysata’s electrolysers significantly boost efficiency, increasing from 75% in existing commercial models to 95% (41.5kWh/kg of hydrogen), and they’re coupled with a simplified balance of plant that “further reduces costs.”
In ACWA Power’s press statement, they said, “This key collaboration will bring together ACWA Power’s world-leading experience and Hysata’s cutting-edge high efficiency electrolyser technology.
“This initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals, strengthening the Kingdom’s leadership as a global hub for green hydrogen innovation.”
Earlier this week, ACWA Power confirmed that it will supply 200,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year to Europe under a new partnership with Germany’s SEFE Energy.

SEFE will serve as a co-investor and prime off-taker of the deal and is likely to primarily distribute the hydrogen throughout Germany and into Europe via upcoming pipeline developments, such as the German hydrogen core network.
