Updated: ACWA Power to install high-efficiency Hysata electrolysers in Saudi Arabia

ACWA Power has partnered with Hysata to deploy its high-efficiency green hydrogen production technology in Saudi Arabia, aiming to scale up cost-effective hydrogen production.

H2 View understands that the Australian firm will provide the Saudi-state-backed company with its capillary-fed electrolysers (CFE).

Hysata’s electrolysers significantly boost efficiency, increasing from 75% in existing commercial models to 95% (41.5kWh/kg of hydrogen), and they’re coupled with a simplified balance of plant that “further reduces costs.”

Hysata’s CEO, Paul Barrett, claimed the company was “especially attracted” to ACWA Power’s pipeline of large-scale hydrogen projects with strong offtakers, which includes the 2GW NEOM initiative.
