ACWA Power has agreed to produce up to 600,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year in Tunisia and export it to Europe over three phases.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Tunisian Government, the Saudi-based company will develop 2GW of hydrogen production capacity as part of the project’s first phase.
The initial phase will produce 200,000 tonnes of hydrogen a year and it will be exported through the SoutH2 Corridor, which connects Tunisia to Italy, Austria and Germany – which is expected to begin operating by 2030.
