ACWA Power, Indonesian state-owned electricity provider PT Perusahaan Lisrik Negra (PLN) and fertiliser producer PT Pupuk Indonesia have announced plans to develop a $1bn green hydrogen production facility in Indonesia.
Expected to be the “largest” green hydrogen facility in the Southeast Asian country, the Garuda Hidrogen Hijau (GH2) project is anticipated to commence operations in 2026, producing 150,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year.
Having signed the agreement during COP28, the companies said the site will use 600MW of solar and wind power to power the hydrogen production.
