ACCIONA plan to reduce emissions in construction of Seville bridge

ACCIONA has announced it has set up pilot projects utilising hydrogen fuel cells to contribute to the decarbonisation of its construction projects in Spain.

The company will use hydrogen to reduce the emissions on the expansion of the Centennial Bridge in Seville, implementing a zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell generator (GEH2®) from EODev.

The unit replaced the diesel genset that was used on site, and in the implementation phase (six months) it’s expected to avoid the consumption of around 8,000 litres of fossil fuels and reduce emissions equivalent to 24 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2).
