Hydrogen is being explored for sustainable carbon neutral food production.
News of the unique application for the clean energy carrier was confirmed today (Jan 31) by Nel Hydrogen US, which said it has received orders for multiple PEM electrolysers for such production.
The company looking to cut food production emissions with hydrogen has not been disclosed, however, Nel said the order came from a leader in the commercialisation of sustainable protein technology.
