8 Rivers COO offers company update on Cormorant project

Earlier this month year, the US-based company 8 Rivers announced its Cormorant Clean Energy project is set to produce around 880,000 tonnes of ammonia per year.

Set to be powered by 8 Rivers’ 8RH2 hydrogen process, the technology is anticipated to capture more than 1.4 million tonnes of CO2 annually, with a 99% CO2 capture rate. 8RH2 will also ensure an ultra-low carbon hydrogen process, harnessing oxy-combustion to eliminate CO2 emissions and lower costs.

The hydrogen produced will then be turned into ammonia that can be used for transportation, industrial processes, agriculture, and more. The Cormorant Clean Energy project will demonstrate an efficient and affordable pathway to decarbonisation for the aviation, shipping, heavy transportation, and power generation sectors.
