$500m 300MW Indonesian green hydrogen project is feasible, Black & Veatch concludes

A Black & Veatch study has concluded a $500m 300MW green hydrogen production project in Indonesia is technically and economically feasible.

Carried out for Augustus Global Investment (AGI), the study explored green hydrogen production through electrolysers powered by grid-supplied renewable energy in the Aceh province.

The proposed plant would be built in the Arun Lhokseumawe Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the plant is planned to produce 98.5 tonnes of hydrogen per day from 300MW of electrolysers, at an estimated cost of $500m.

Having provided a plant configuration and technology analysis and order-of-magnitude cost estimates for hydrogen and storage, Black & Veatch said the study found the project can be technically and economically feasible, “and has the potential to significantly contribute to Indonesia’s energy transition.”
