2023 BMW PGA Championship TV production to be powered entirely by green hydrogen

In what is said to be a world-first for a sporting event, the 2023 BMW PGA Championship on the DP World Tour will have its television production powered entirely by green hydrogen.

Set to take place at Wentworth Club in Surrey, UK, on September 14-17, 2023, the event’s TV production will be powered by two hydrogen power units (HPUs) supplied by GeoPura, replacing traditional diesel generators.

The HPUs will be positioned on the fairway of the sixth hole and are anticipated to save a total of 16.4 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) compared to the 2022 tournament.
