20 more hydrogen buses ordered for the San Francisco Bay Area

20 new hydrogen-powered buses will soon be running in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Alameda Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) on Monday (June 14) said it had placed an order with New Flyer of America for the 40-foot Xcelsior CHARGE H2™ heavy-duty transit buses.

Supported by Federal Transit Administration funds, the order follows AC Transit’s 2019 purchase of ten hydrogen fuel cell-electric and five battery-electric buses from New Flyer.
