Equinor seeks to develop its large-scale hydrogen production capacity as it submits a co-funded bid, worth over £16m ($19.6m) into the UK Government for a major 1.2GW low carbon hydrogen production facility in the Humber, North East England.
Revealed today (June 22), the 1.2GW Hydrogen to Humber (H2H) Production 2 project hopes to be operational by 2028, delivering low carbon hydrogen across sectors in the region.
Combined with Equinor’s 600MW H2H Saltend project on the north bank of the Humber River, the company anticipate the two projects could meet 18% of the UK Government’s 2030 goals of 10GW of hydrogen production capacity.
