Norwegian-based PEM electrolyser OEM Hystar in 2023 secured funding, announced plans for a multi-gigawatt factory as well as North American expansion plans.
On the penultimate day of H2 View’s 12 Days of Content, we caught up with Bente Traa, Production Director at Hystar, to hear more about the year and why the company looking at Canada “very seriously” alongside the US.
It’s great to speak to Hystar again. Here we are right at the end of 2023. How was your year from your perspective? What were the highlights for the company?
It’s been a whirlwind, and I can’t quite believe the year is coming to an end. Seeing so many bright and talented people join the company has been a highlight, making the year ahead even more exciting. We announced our Series B funding in January, rapidly accelerating our growth plans. Since then, we’ve announced our first commercial contract, ABB joining our HyPilot project, and our plans to build a GW factory in Norway while expanding into North America. A personal highlight for me was the opening of our Innovation Centre in Spring, where we continue undertaking pioneering research & development to further optimise our PEM electrolysers in our constant strive for new advances.
