The $1/kg of clean hydrogen target is detrimental to hydrogen producers trying to secure offtake, according to Mack Hopen, Senior Manager of Commercialisation at Modern Hydrogen.
Speaking at the Hydrogen Americas Summit in Washington, DC, Hopen said one key struggle of hydrogen industry players was the long-term expectations.
His comments came in reference to the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Hydrogen Shot goal of reducing the cost of one kilogramme of clean hydrogen to $1 within a decade.
