Can you tell us in a few words the role Drivetek is playing in the hydrogen industry?
Drivetek has been designing, developing and manufacturing power electronics and permanent magnets electric motors since 2002. Applications include transportation (from cars and light trains to trucks, buses and off-highway vehicles), aviation, industrial and energy transition technologies.
We are among the pioneers in implementing technologies such as silicon carbide (SiC) and transferring technologies such as multilevel from industrial to automotive applications. For example, Drivetek has been supplying IGBT multilevel inverters (MLI) since 2012 and SiC high-speed inverters since 2009 to customers gaining valuable field experience.
Our MLI-technology was successfully used in a car racing application to recover energy in an internal combustion engine (ICE) after being turbo-supercharged by a turbine spinning at 150,000 rpm. Almost by accident, we then came into contact with compressors and turbochargers manufacturers for fuel cell air supply (FCAS). This is where our relationship with the hydrogen industry was born in 2013, which to this day is limited to FCAS.
