With Net Zero a truly global challenge, it means that many countries around the world are attempting to stimulate a hydrogen industry at the same time. This partly explains why the drive towards hydrogen is happening at a similar pace right around the globe.
Another reason is the speed of communication and technology transfer. Visitors to Auto Shanghai and Hannover Messe in China and Germany respectively could see all this play out for themselves earlier this year. Though both countries and events are on different continents, there was only one subject that dominated conversation – hydrogen.
This reflects the fact that to reach Net Zero our societies must develop hydrogen at a global scale establishing complex supply chains and innovating with hydrogen in all sectors. This is why it’s so important for policy to be aligned and proportionate to the size of the opportunity that hydrogen presents. But now, more than ever, all regions collectively need to move much more quickly on hydrogen.
