Thank you for taking five with H2 View today. We understand that Coregas will be operating Australia’s first hydrogen-powered heavy trucks in 2022. Can you tell us more about this?
Sure. We have placed an order for two of Hyzon Motors’ Hymax-450 hydrogen-powered prime movers, to be delivered in 2022, and will operate them out of Australia’s first commercial heavy vehicle hydrogen refuelling station, that we are building in Port Kembla. Converting heavy vehicles to hydrogen delivers at least a 50% reduction in emissions compared to the diesel trucks currently in use, and when combined with access to a reliable source of affordable “green” hydrogen, could completely eliminate carbon emissions from hydrogen-powered trucks.
What else is big hydrogen-wise for Coregas in the Oceania region at the moment?
We are delighted to have just entered into an agreement with energy infrastructure company Jemena to take green hydrogen from Jemena’s $15m Western Sydney Green Gas Project which was co-funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). This means we will be able to provide customers in New South Wales with green hydrogen for the very first time in early 2022, and represents another important step on the path to developing Australia’s hydrogen economy.
