Thank you for taking five with H2 View today. For some of our readers who may not be familiar with the Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC), could you tell us a little about the Centre, its origins and activities?
NZTC was created in 2017 as part of the Aberdeen City Region Deal, with £180m ($215m) of UK and Scottish Government funding to be the go-to technology centre for the North Sea energy industry. To date more than £253m ($302m) has been co-invested with industry in 1,810 next-gen Net Zero technologies. From solutions that harness the full potential of green and blue hydrogen, to autonomous robotics and renewable power systems.
One of the centre’s core offerings is the TechX Clean Energy Accelerator. The 15-week programme aims to propel clean energy start-ups into the energy industry, offering dedicated mentorship, access to our global energy network and up to £100,000 ($119,400) of grant funding. So far 57 start-ups have been supported through the programme and have gone on to generate more than £10m ($11.9m) in revenue collectively and raise over £50m ($59.5m) in equity.
This month’s magazine is focusing on aviation. What has the NZTC been doing in this space?
