Thank you for taking five with H2 View today. For some of our readers who may not be familiar with Tevva, could you tell us a little about the company, its origins and activities?
Tevva was founded in 2013 to address the challenge of range anxiety in large commercial electric vehicles and create technology solutions to decarbonise trucks. Having created an EV battery company in the late 2000s, our founder Asher Bennett learnt much about battery performance, design and financing, including in commercial vehicle applications.
As a former submarine officer of a range-extended electric sub, he also realised that range-extenders could be used to enable the electrification of medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, like trucks. Interestingly subs and trucks have common performance characteristics with regard to safety, reliability and durability, so taking the tech stack from a submarine was a great solution for powering the first Tevva range-extended electric trucks.
Now, we are pioneering zero-emission mobility solutions, developing a range of battery-electric and hydrogen-electric medium-duty trucks that can improve air quality and vehicle safety, lower total cost of ownership, eliminate range anxiety and improve driver and fleet operator experience.
