Outside of its headline-grabbing collaboration with Toyota where it announced it would mass-produce 5MW electrolysers, Japan’s Chiyoda has been deepening its involvement within hydrogen value chains, positioning itself as an essential cog in machine.
Founded as a technology-focused energy sector EPC contractor in 1948, the company moved from oil to petrochemicals, and from the 1990s into the gas sector, particularly LNG, realising projects in over 60 countries.
Over the past decade, however, Chiyoda has expanded its horizons into clean energy technologies such as solar and wind, battery storage and hydrogen – leveraging experience with grey hydrogen infrastructure and dedicating efforts for over two decades to develop a new hydrogen transport and storage solution, Ikeda Osamu, Managing Director at Chiyoda Corporation Netherlands B.V., told H2 View.
