Highly regarded as an ideal complement to intermittent energy sources, hydrogen will be capable of producing green electricity at time of peak demand, and during periods in which there is an excess of renewable energy in which it could then be stored and used at a later date.
Methods of hydrogen storage include compressed gas, cryo-compressed, as a liquid hydrogen, or within salt caverns, along with other alternatives. The optimum method of power and energy storage will depend on the storage solution.
