Chile has a clear strategy and national goals related to development of green hydrogen: we seek to be among the world’s main producers and exporters of this energy vector by 2030. Our geographical conditions favor us – the high availability of solar and wind power – but the fact that we have reached a cross-cutting public policy agreement to promote this industry has also cooperated toward achieving this goal.
A new government arrived in March and their first signs are of continuity and reinforcing what has been done in terms of driving, promoting, and supporting the renewable energy industry and green hydrogen in particular.
The national and international political agenda have become more favourable toward more decisive local action on sustainability, with increased awareness of what climate change is doing to territories, human groups, and economies. That is why we believe it is positive for Chile to be sending clear signs of implementing a regulatory agenda that promotes a hydrogen economy.
