Hyox Limited came onto the scene in early 2022 at Harwell in the UK, with the aim to dramatically improve the performance of systems that produce and liquefy hydrogen fuel for aircraft, spacecraft, shipping, rail and road transport.
Its team selected the UK to launch the business due to its historic leadership in aerospace innovation, which can be traced as far back as the earliest days of flight; from the elegance of the Sopwith Camel in World War I to the exquisite Supermarine Spitfire. In the post-war period, the UK continued to distinguish itself in the manufacture of the Rolls-Royce engines powering the global fleet of commercial jet aircraft, starting with the world’s first commercial jet aircraft, the deHavilland Comet.
The background and experience of the Hyox team includes work with legacy aerospace companies in Canada and the UK, such as Rolls-Royce Canada and deHavilland Canada on vertical lift research, McDonnell Douglas on the International Space Station in California on the external active thermal control systems (EATCS), and Reaction Engines Limited on additively manufactured heat exchangers. Its team possesses the engineering foundation to design much better hydrogen production equipment using advanced technologies.
