HOERBIGER’s story began in 1895, when its founding father, Hanns Hoerbiger, invented the steel plate valve, which revolutionised gas compression at the time. Fast forward almost 130 years and the Swiss company’s experience of natural gas valves is now being applied to the emerging hydrogen market.
As a supplier of performance-critical components to the oil and gas, automotive, and energy industries, Bernhard Zemann, Head of HOERBIGER Engine Technology, explained, “it was just a logical step to utilise our expertise in gaseous fuels and to move into hydrogen.”
Zemann continued, “What sets us apart from other companies in the hydrogen value chain is that we did not wait for the hydrogen economy to reach critical momentum. As a pioneer, we already started our R&D activities in hydrogen technologies more than 20 years ago.”
