In 2023 H2 View reported that the hydrogen-powered flight industry was taking off. Now, work is being done both on the ground and in the skies to ensure hydrogen progress in aviation stays airborne.
The aviation industry accounted for around 2% of global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in 2023¹, showcasing the need to decarbonise the sector, likely to grow as other sectors begin to draw closer to Net Zero operations.
To lower emissions developers are turning to alternative propulsion methods. It has been estimated zero-emission propulsion will require between 600 and 1,700TWh of clean energy by 2050 across the globe, with about 89-96% of the energy being used for hydrogen-powered flight¹.
